Advantages of a First Floor Master in Your New Richwoods Home

If you’re thinking about buying a new home in Richwoods, you may want to consider choosing a plan that features a first floor master bedroom. Two-story homes traditionally feature the master on the second floor. Many families choose this option so parents can be near their children, especially when they’re babies and toddlers.

But first floor masters are now becoming more popular. When a master bedroom is located downstairs, it combines the advantages of one-level living with the style and space of multi-level designs. It can also be a good investment both economically and for those who wish to age with their home.

Baby boomers, in particular, tend to prefer first floor master suites since they don’t have to go up and down stairs as often. Another advantage of placing the master on the main floor is the possibility of reducing energy use. Empty nesters that have the house to themselves on a day-to-day basis may decide to only heat or cool the main level so extra energy is not wasted in unused portions of the house.

A main-floor master suite allows young families to live in the house a long time – often through retirement. After the kids go off to college or find a job and move out on their own, the upstairs bedrooms can provide guests and adult children a place to stay when they visit. Placing the master on the first floor also means it will be closer to the living room and kitchen, which is more convenient for older residents within a home, as well as anyone with a physical challenge.

Buyers with school-age or teenage children may prefer a first floor master, since it offers parents more privacy, peace and quiet. A spare bedroom upstairs can be set up as a toy room, so all of a child’s toys can be kept on the second floor. Some new homes, like Landon Homes’ Richmond Collection model, feature a first-floor master suite, with a game room, media room and computer area on the second floor, along with two other bedrooms.

The Richmond Collection is just one of the outstanding models available to build at Richwoods Place, a gated community of luxury homes in the heart of Frisco.  Richwoods is ideally located, just minutes from the Dallas North Tollway and all the shopping, sports and entertainment that Frisco and North Texas have to offer. Richwoods is also in the acclaimed Frisco Independent School District, with a middle school adjacent to the community.
