Richwoods Crossing: Labor Day Party Ideas!

10425650_S
Will this be your first September at Richwood Crossing in Frisco TX? If you recently purchased a new home, this is a time to celebrate! With Labor Day approaching, use the occasion to host a party for family and friends. Here are a few ideas to create a memorable celebration for all to enjoy:

Theme parties – Give your Labor Day bash a theme for some added fun, such as a Whiteout party. Labor Day is the “end of summer,” so you’re not supposed to wear white anymore. You can poke some fun at this rule by asking your guests to wear as much white as possible. And then incorporate white into your decorations and party menu too!

Another “color” theme to use for Labor Day is the old patriotic standard of red, white and blue. Use the theme in your decorations and menu, by displaying American flags, stars and stripes and the colors. And of course, encourage everyone to wear red, white and blue too.

Activities – If you’re hosting a casual backyard cookout, plan team games for your guests to take part in like volleyball, tag football or tug of war. Don’t forget to include activities for the kids, if they’ll be there. You can set up an arts and crafts table, put out some board games, and plan to roast s’mores.

Music – If you plan to host an elegant evening party, hire a local musician to provide entertainment. Or build your own patriotic playlist for a more casual gathering. Don’t be afraid to mix it up with old and new patriotic songs. Here are just a few suggestions:

  • “American Woman” — Lenny Kravitz
  • “Red, White and Blue” — Lynyrd Skynyrd
  • “The West Point March” — United States Army Band
  • “This Land Is Your Land” — Pete Seeger
  • “Born in the USA” — Bruce Springsteen
  • “God Bless the USA: Proud to be an American” — Lee Greenwood

Invitations – Since people tend to get very busy at this time of year, it’s best to send out invitations a few weeks in advance. But if you decide to host a Labor Day party at the last minute, online invitations will do the trick. Some websites, like Punchbowl, even have special tools to help with party planning. There’s even a potluck tool that allows guests to keep track of what is needed and what they should bring. This is especially useful because it will help you fill any holes in your menu.
